Cockerell Dermatopathology Celebrates 10 Years of Providing World-Class Diagnostic Services.

Cockerell Dermatopathology, one of the world’s leading dermatopathology practices, is celebrating its 10th anniversary. Led by Dr. Clay Cockerell, a double board-certified physician in dermatology and dermatopathology, the practice specializes in the diagnosis of dermatologic disorders – conditions that affect the skin, hair, and nails.

Cockerell Dermatopathology works with physicians and clinicians across the globe to provide definitive diagnoses and second opinions for their patients. “Our philosophy is to treat every specimen we screen as if it came from one of our own family members,” Dr. Cockerell said. “I believe it’s that level of commitment that keeps our referring physicians and clinicians coming back year after year, and we are honored that they entrust us with the diagnosis of their patients.”

Dr. Cockerell, who has been practicing medicine since 1986, has built a reputation as a sought-after dermatopathologist, lecturer and panelist. He offers several educational events each year, both in person and virtually, through which other medical providers in the dermatology field can gain continuing education credits.  Most recently, Dr. Cockerell hosted his 10th annual Practical Symposium conference in Vail, Colorado, bringing together nearly 200 attendees, guests, and industry partners from across the country. For more information about educational events hosted by Dr. Cockerell, visit www.dermpath.com/education.

In addition to the educational offerings provided directly by Dr. Cockerell, he is frequently asked to serve as a lecturer at other conferences, such as the American Academy of Dermatology, Fall and Winter Clinical Dermatology conferences, and other scientific meetings throughout the United States and the globe.

Dr. Cockerell’s commitment to education also extends to training the next generation of dermatologists. He currently serves as program director for the newly appointed Health Education Services dermatology residency program sponsored by Lake Granbury Medical Center in Granbury, Texas. Dr. Cockerell helped establish the program in partnership with The University of North Texas Health Science Center at Fort Worth’s Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine to address the nationwide shortage of skilled dermatologists.

Dermatology is one of the hardest specialties to get into in all of medicine,” Dr. Cockerell said. “Our program is designed to train dermatology residents to become experts in their field and also equip them with the business skills to run their own practice one day. We are excited for our first group of residents who will help fill the gap in this specialized area of medicine.”
